Emptiness

This time,
I am an empty vessel.

I gave so much to others
that nothing left for you.

So, why this sudden embrace?
Why so late?

Lucknow, you broke my heart!
The capital of Awadh--you broke my heart!
Except some handful young girls and boys  (whom I met in this old city),
Most people haven't crossed the boundaries of caste, creed, religion, and gender

Not just Lucknow,
the entire country breaks me into pieces.

Sparks

Those Saturday sparks in your eyes are gone now!
And I have seen many such sparks in my life;
In the long run, these momentary sparks have no value.
And I am looking for something else; something more permanent
which would fulfill my heart and soul.

The Saturday sparks are gone now.
And it's a good thing as it makes you more peaceful.
I know what I gave you this past month
You would remember that for a long time.

When everybody sleeps,
I roam on the cliff
like a formless shadow.

I watch over the city
like an immortal soul.
