Last Night

Last night I could not sleep
So I lay down on the bed
closing my eyes;
Like the birds close their eyes
but awakened in their soul!

You came all night
Covering your face
I could only see your eyes
Bright.

We walked together
In the desert
and in the forest
Sat on a rocky shore
beside the sea.

We did not talk.
We were silent.
You filled my chalice
Until we merged.
