She crossed the road
She recalled
Near the library,
the corner is "L" shaped.
She crossed the road
and saw her little daughter
crossing the same road, just three feet ahead.
Soon she realized
there was no one at midnight;
the road was empty and the night was silent.
Soon she realized
as she wiped her tears
with her hands.
Her little one wouldn't cross the road
how she did.
Her little one wouldn't feel
how she felt: abandoned, tired, heartbroken, and insecure
That's a good thing!
She didn't want to transmit her struggles to her daughter.
She would never have a child!
And that's a good thing!
Because she didn't want to transmit her "bad" genes
She nodded her head in approval.
